Movenpick Hotel Amsterdam was our go to for our cruise. The hotel sits next door to the cruise terminal. Easy access to go to and for bag dropoff. We were upgraded to a suite that had a view over canals and ships. Included was the mini bar that was fully stocked plus breakfast. A lounge was also included that had all day non alcoholic drinks. A bar setup is from 4pm to 6pm. Beer and wine. Back to the breakfast. Fantastic. You are met by Arthur. What an engaging person. On for a chat if not too busy. Great selection of food We also had a dinner buffet which was only available for a few days. Please bring it back. Again the selection was unbeatable. Chef prepared meals. 27.50 euro. Bargain. We have another 3 night stay and are looking forward to being here and seeing everyone again Definitely 5 stars for us.
Stayed two nights prior to a river cruise and we liked the proximity to the ship and the hotel views. Although the property lacks the Amsterdam charm, check in was very quick and easy, the room was well situated, and the included breakfast in the light filled room was more than sufficient. This is a great hotel for a pre cruise accommodation because it has everything you need after a long flight. It is within walking distance to the station, and we found delicious restaurants within walking distance.
We checked into the hotel with my son at around 8pm on 23 May after a long journey from abroad. Understandably, my son was tired and hungry, and we simply wanted a smooth and quick check-in so we could get some food. However, the experience at reception was disappointing. The staff member assisting us repeatedly answered incoming phone calls during our check-in, including a third call while still serving us. Despite my son clearly stating he was hungry in front of her, she continued prioritising the calls. I asked if she could not answering the phone while serving us, as it felt unprofessional and made us feel as though we were not a priority. She replied that it was company policy to answer in case the call was from management. I found this explanation unsatisfactory, particularly as there were at least three other staff present at reception who were not assisting any guests or answering calls. If she is the supervisor and required to answer all calls, then perhaps someone else should have been assigned to check us in. I also overheard that the call was related to room service – not an urgent matter requiring immediate attention while a guest is being served in person. First impressions matter, and this experience unfortunately set the wrong tone for our stay. If it is indeed company policy for receptionists to prioritise phone calls over guests standing at the desk, I would prefer to be asked to wait rather than being partially served. Guests deserve undivided attention during check-in, especially after a long day of travel.
After disembarking from a cruise vessel we had booked a room in this hotel as we are Accor gold members. Unfortunately the reception staff were unable to assist as the system was down and they were quite uprupt Conceiage staff were so helpful room was nice and large although shampoo bottle was not working The hotel stated they were short staffed and this was the same 2 weeks prior Not sure I would stay there again
Sometimes, when your booking agent, in our case,a cruise ship company, arranges a hotel as part of a packaged vacation, you run the risk of not being satisfied with the accommodations, however we we very fortunate that we were sent to the Movenpick Hotel! From the moment we entered lobby and were greeted warmly by the gracious concierge staff and especially, Tina Maddaloni, who went made us feel special and treated us with such professionalism that I asked if I could take a picture to remember her! Our room was lovely on the 11th floor with a lovely view . Our room had a safe, hair dryer, coffee and tea pot and a selection of pods and tea bags as well as a refrigerator that came with two complementary containers of water! Our accommodations also included their breakfast buffet! When making your reservation, you must ask for this to be included ! If not the charge is around 26 Euros! However, it’s definitely a terrific deal and worth the price! Just plan on skipping dinner the night before, because the hotel’s breakfast buffet is better than the breakfasts we were served on our elegant cruise ship! Their breakfasts must have a great reputation, since there were lots of guests having wonderful mesls and spread over three dining rooms! The Movenpick is located right next to the cruise ship terminal so it’s very convenient to travelers. It’s also only about a ten minute walk to Amsterdam’s Central Station, where many trams and buses terminate so you’ll never be far away from lots of travel options. Also the 26 tram stops across the street from the hotel. And of course there’s lots of cabs and Ubers readily available. We loved our visit to Amsterdam and look forward to returning to the Movenpick in the future!
